Foundation - "Philologicum" in Munich

A large new library - the "Philologicum", is being built behind the historic facade on the corner of the Ludwigstraße 25 and Schellingstraße in Munich, until the end of 2018. This building complex will unite the more than ten different institute libraries of philological disciplines.

On 24.11.2016 the opening took place with the laying of the foundation stone for the actual library. The building which is 65m x 24m, has an underground floor and four entire floors.

The building was constructed between 1833 and 1835 under King Ludwig I by the architect Friedrich von Gärtner and is an essential part of this important road. The building was completely gutted during the extensive construction work.

Only the exterior walls on Ludwigstraße, Schellingstraße and the common wall in the south to the administrative court were preserved and integrated into the new structure. The new building consists of an underground floor with an underlying floor duct for technical systems, and four entire floors, the ridge height remains unchanged.

bwp Burggraf and Reiminger Beratende Ingenieure GmbH processes the performance phases 1-8 of the structural planning according to §§49 ff. HOAI.
